INTRASTAT

The Intrastat System consists of the sum total of the procedures meant to fulfil two important functions previously performed by customs: the collection of duties and the statistical registration of merchandise entering and leaving the State. To this end, the authorities of the member countries have adopted, in response to specific European-Community directives, rules and regulations meant to govern the tax considerations and statistical functions of these operations.
